A dozen or so new tower blocks are being built along Baslerstrasse – an important link road between District 4 and Altstetten train station. With 36,000 residents, District 9 is one of the city’s most populous districts and will continue to grow.

The 80-metre-tall ALTO Tower houses 149 apartments. With its innovative architecture – designed by Zurich-based architects “pool Architekten” – and the harmonious integration of historical structures, it lends District 9 an aesthetic piece of industrial history and forward-looking identity.
